   GUILLERMO LORA IS DEATH

   THE PROGRAM OF THE BOLIVIAN REVOLUTION STANDS UP AND IS STRONGER THAN EVER

   The Central Committee of the Revolutionary Workers Party communicates the death of our General Secretary, the Comrade Guillermo Lora Escobar.

   The life of Guillermo is an example of revolutionary consistency, of a life totally given to the cause of the oppressed in Bolivia and in the World, to the struggle for the freeing of the proletariat and of the exploited.

   The Revolutionary thinking of Guillermo Lora has been forged in the struggle of the Bolivian proletariat, particularly of the mine-workers, and it is the conscious expression of the historical objectives of the single revolutionary class of our times. From the “Thesis of Pulacayo” , thorough the Peoples Assembly, until our days, the theoretical elaboration and action of Guillermo Lora and his party, the POR, constitutes in its essence the knowledge of the laws of the Bolivian Revolution, which will be the work of the oppressed nation, politically commanded by the proletariat.

   This approach remains consolidated in the 67 volumes of his complete works, into which Guillermo Lora will stay alive. He his alive in the struggle of the workers and of all the oppressed, as a guide that marks the way to materialize the Workers-Peasants Government that will be the dictatorship of the oppressed against their oppressors, the dictatorship of the proletariat, the socialism on the way to communism, the society of free men without oppressors nor oppressed.

   The Latino-American and the world-wide workers movement has in the life and work of Guillermo Lora a valuable theoretical and practical approach to explain the path to the reconstruction of the Fourth International as the world party of the proletariat.

   Comrade Guillermo, we inherited from you the example and the temper of what is a professional revolutionary and we continue the struggle until we materialize the revolution that the country needs to be free.

   [...] Long time Bolivian Revolutionary Guillermo Lora dies this week.  Guillermo was the historic leader of the Revolutionary Workers Party of Bolivia (one of the few Trotskyist organizations in the world to have developed a truly mass character).  I have been unable to find a proper obituary in English and rather than butcher this with a computer translation I post it in the original Spanish.  A video of comrades remembering Lora can be found here.
